June 2018: Trends in Global Governance

Dear Friend,

In this month’s Farient Comp & Gov Spotlight, we are focusing on global governance. Farient recently released our third annual Global Trends in Corporate Governance report, which highlights the continuing worldwide trend toward intensifying and converging standards of corporate governance.

We think it’s an important area for boards of directors and executives, especially as investment capital views geographic borders as more figurative than literal. These global investment strategies have widespread implications for executive compensation, board governance, and shareholder rights, all of which are covered in the report. Given the emergence of cross-border investment, we encourage companies to have their proverbial fingers on the pulse of governance trends – not only where they are domiciled but around the world.

In addition to the Trends report, I am also excited to introduce Farient’s recently released Pay Ratio Tracker, which monitors and aggregates the CEO Pay Ratio for S&P 1500 and Russell 3000 companies in one easy-to-access location. Our Pay Ratio tracker is the latest addition to a suite of offerings on our website that provide at-your-fingertips pay data.

In keeping with this month’s theme, you will find below the global governance stories my partners and I have found to be most interesting as we track and advise our clients on global governance trends. We hope the information and resources here are helpful as you navigate corporate governance and disclosures for your organization.

Sincerely,
John Trentacoste, Partner and Head of the New York Office, Farient Advisors
